Lead Pastor Annual Letter

Lead Pastor Annual Letter

Hello People of Hosanna!,

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The fair has come and gone, football is here, and leaves are beginning to turn. Fall has officially arrived. Wherever summer has taken you, I want to welcome you to Hosanna’s 2017-2018 church year kick-off.

It was a very good summer at Hosanna!, and we are truly excited about all that lies ahead. I know, I know…it’s easy to be filled with optimism at the beginning of a brand new season, but growing enthusiasm for Hosanna’s future isn’t blind optimism. We’ll get to that…

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to reflect on our year as a church. The initial transition from 35-years of leadership under beloved Founding Pastor, Bill Bohline, to a new lead pastor, leadership team and multiply vision wasn’t always easy. As much as we prepared for this seismic shift, there were bound to be some bumps along the way.

For one, I experienced a massive learning curve (I no longer wonder how leaders gain wisdom!). Each week, I feel like I grow in my footing and voice as your lead pastor.

Recently, I had the following thought: “All people experience learning and struggles along the way, but not everyone goes through them in front of thousands of people!”. During my two years as lead pastor, you’ve demonstrated loving patience, believed in my potential, and prayerfully supported Hosanna’s future. For that, I can’t thank you enough. It makes me love you all the more!

Here’s a related verse that resonates deep within my soul: “But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)

Out of the initial transition, your lead pastor and our church have learned to rely on God and his promises like never before. Especially in this new season.

As we step into this new year, there is a word welling up deep inside of me, a word I believe is pounding within the heart of Hosanna!. It’s a word each of our souls long to hear and shout. Most of all, this word is uttered ceaselessly and lovingly by the God of the universe in Jesus Christ to his church – and to each person who hears his voice. The word is “Yes!”.

It’s a word I couldn’t shake as we prayerfully planned our first 2017-2018 series. We kick-off “Yes After Yes” during this weekend’s worship at both campuses. In addition, there will be a kick-off event after the 11am services at each campus with lots of food, opportunities for community connection, and a HEART donation drive to “multiply the hope and heartbeat of Jesus” in the lives of those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Don’t miss it. This weekend or this season. I have a feeling we’ll look back at this moment in Hosanna’s history with joy and say, “remember when…” See you at church!

Multiplying Together,

Lead Pastor, Ryan Alexander

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!”
